A Lesson In Acceptance

Acceptance! Honestly, In today's times it's a very cliched word.
Very casually we have said it and have heard people saying "Accept yourself the way you're", "Accept it the way it is", etc.
But, what does it really mean? How does it feel to accept oneself? Was I in denial for these many years? Can anybody tell me what does it really mean to completely accept yourself or the situations, the people in my life?
In a very simple language "Acceptance" means accepting your weaknesses as much you accept your strengths.
Accepting people or situations mean, acknowledging the good or bad in them, the way it is, rather than being in denial.
The mind struggles here, with this concept saying, "If I accept my weaknesses how am I going to grow in life? I might stay stuck where I am whole my life. If I accept the wrong behavior, how will they learn the lesson?" etc.
Stay with me a little bit longer and I will explain what I mean.
Accepting doesn't mean your growth will stop and you have to live with what you have got or you should just bear with the undesirable situations.
On the other hand, it actually opens up a window for growth. Acceptance means Acknowledgement. When you acknowledge what's happening, when you see things the way they are, it gives you a choice, it asks you to take action. Because now, you have dropped the denial that it doesn't exist and you're open to see things the way they are and receive a solution.
So, Acceptance in itself is a powerful trait that anybody can develop. You as well!
Hope you found some value in it!
Stay connected and on the path of Acceptance!
Love, Deepshikha!
